Digitalpoint - Google’s PageRank; Does It Matter Or Not?

When I got into SEO, Google’s PageRank (PR) was the golden topic. Everyone loved talking about every little aspect of it. If you knew a lot about PR, you were considered like an expert SEO, LOL.

Things have changed in the last 5 or 6 years and more and more webmasters are shouting “PR is useless!” and “PR is meaningless!”. Yet, other webmasters keep starting new threads asking about the next PR update or asking how to increase their PR.

These threads are on every forum that I visit so I’m not likely to cover more of them, buy hey, we gotta have at least one PageRank debate. :D

“Anyone seeing PR dropping today? Google has gone mad lately.” - missdanni

(note: it seems missdanni is in the link selling biz, her sig is: “PR5 Placement Many Topics Permanent $40 - WOW -”)

“When will people get off the Pagerank bandwagon and start worrying about what counts? You know, this thing called organic traffic provided from SERPs?” - ssandeck

Read the entire sad thread here: PR Drop?

What do you think? Is PR important or not?
