You Are In Violation Of The Official Bruce Clay Code of Ethics
With big firms, like Walmart/Sam’s Club and even Google (Performics), entering the Search Engine Optimization and Marketing business, it might be a good time for current SEOs to put together some industry standards or at least some guidelines, or code of ethics and morals.
I would think that any SEO industry standards or guidelines would need to come from the top SEO firms forming a code of ethics and morals committee for the benefit of the entire industry.
One SEO, Bruce Clay, has produced a Code of Ethics, but it’s not without Mr Clay promoting himself.

So, SEOs can put that image on their SEO site and claim to be BruceClay.com complient.
In all fairness though, I do give Bruce Clay credit for the effort writing the code of ethics, and Bruce has another page for the discussion of SEO standards.
While the Bruce Clay emblem seems self-serving, a little browsing around shows that most SEO sites have their own code of ethics and many have their own emblem.

and this one at davidwilliams.biz, which is quite official looking.
Already a few SEOs are displaying the bruceclay.com Code Of Ethics emblem and they link back to bruceclay.com, which is a great arrangement.

And Bruce Clay having his name on the emblem could backfire. An example would be customfitonline.com; a site displaying Bruce Clay’s Code of Ethics, but “bruceclay.com” has been removed from the emblem and bruceclay.com is not mentioned anywhere on the page. LOL That’s a great start on SEO ethics, huh? “Let’s rip the code of ethics from a competitor and not give credit”. hehehe And some people wonder why the SEO industry is sometimes called slime.
Oh well, it’s a start. If more well known, SEOs would do similar, then someday maybe they could all get together and come up with ONE “Code” or one set of guideline for the entire industry.
But then they would need a method of enforcing those guidelines.
