Free Linkbait Content Ideas - Start Your Own Viral Today!

For years they’ve been saying that content is king and for years I scoffed. However, most of the “content is king” advice was something like: write good, quality, themed content, a page a day, blah, blah, blah. Shit, I like to write, but that suggestion NEVER sounded good to me. Not all site owners have the time to write that much content and I’m not an expert on ANYTHING!

Anyways, there are zillions of websites that contain gigabytes and gigabytes of quality content that are NOT ranking well.

WHY?

Because it’s not the site with the most content that wins; it’s the site with the most links!

So, why then, do people continue the mantra “content is king”?

Because they can’t spell LINKBAIT. LOL :D

The “content is king” crowd has shied away from terms like linkbait and viral because those terms do not sound like they have quality. Nonsense!

But look what Matt Cutts says about linkbait:

“I think of linkbait as something interesting enough to catch people’s attention…” -
Matt Cutts, Google Engineer

You see, good content is compelling. It’s irresisible. You WANT to link to it from your site. You are PROUD to have that link on your site. You want to impress your peers cuz you found that content first. That’s good content!

Sometimes, we just stumble upon good content, but with today’s internet market, no one can afford to sit back and just hope and pray that someone will trip over their content, we need to put out some bait. Something that will cause them to visit. If you have an offline retail store with people just walking by your door, you need to put something in the window to get their attention; to draw them in, that is BAIT!

The number one medium of bait for most of us, is the Title of the page, post, or article. I spend hours looking at post titles in RSS feeds and 95% of them put me to sleep. It’s pathetic!

Anyways, I didn’t really mean to go on and on, LOL. What I’m tring to say is that content is king ONLY if the content contains something that is useful, funny, or has some other hook, but still, the best content is useless if we don’t get their attention and “draw them in”.

Bait is what gets their attention and draws them to your page.

I found a two sites today that offer methods of brainstorming for linkbait. One of them charges small fees, like $1 or $4 for an idea), the other is completely free.

Both are very new. Both have big potential, imo.
